This is the 67 Camaro we purchased the plan was to buy one and do minor repairs or upgrades something Rose could have . However after the purchase and working to do upgrades to the car I found several issues. I am not going to blame or throw anyone under the bus, it is what it is. I found the car to be unsafe even for my worst enemy. Rose and I decided to build one up from scratch and the process began.
Rose and I looked for a camaro shell we even thought about the potential purchase of a stamped shell from year 1 however the prices were astronomical and more then we were willing to spend. I found this shell from a guy in Connecticut called the man and flew out to him on a Thursday night. After some more haggling we agreed on a price and I had a car hauler meet me to load the shell and transport it back to North Carolina.
The guy I purchased this shell from owned a body shop and replaced everything new floors, Quarters, trunk and a Detroit speed mini tub, not what I wanted, but something I could work with. The other thing is he installed a 69 camaro dash so I had to replace it with the correct 67 dash, not a big deal.
with a Detroit speed mini tub you must relocate the rear seat support. I had to cut the ones out of the other camaro and trim to fit then weld those in place along with fabricating the braces on the back side to weld onto the inner fender.
I know you are all aware of the pre-fit drill required before you send a car over to the body shop for paint. I have a ton of work ahead of me before I can even think of taking that step. I don't claim to be a body man so I asked Bruce and Mike over to my shop from Christ First Customs so they can asses the car in its current state. Bruce advised  as I pointed out issues that I thought needed to be addressed by him and Mike he reassured me that they will work on the fit and finish of the car, I just had to put the car together and get it over to them, boy am I relieved. So the plan is to assemble the car make sure everything is has I want it then get it over to Bruce and Mike. Once there we will disassemble the car drop the frame and rear. I will take that back to my shop and disassemble those then get them over to Final touch so Roger can do the powder coating to the frame and rear housing. As you can see a lot more to come on this build . I have 1,000's of pictures of what I have been doing on this build to document it and I will put together a slide show for those of you who wish to see. As I progress in the build I will update this page. Thank you for looking and if you have any questions or advise please don't hesitate.
This is the current state of the car and I know the panels will be removed more times then I care to think about. The next step is to pre-fit the motor and transmission so I am better able to determine the exact location for the floor shifter and weld those trans tunnel braces in place for the shifter mount. I only work on the car maybe once a week sometimes twice it just depends. The rear needs to be situated because of the mini tubs I need to relocate the shocks inboard of the frame rails so that requires cutting, fabing and welding as well . I must admit though I've never done that type of work so it intimidates me a little, I'm not afraid to do it, I'm just afraid to screw it up. If I take my time it should come out fine.
